To create a matching even gap along the bottom of the door use another hinge as a spacer. Place your new hinge over the location of the old one. Pre drill for the screws the easiest way to get perfectly centered screws is to pre drill with one of these self centering bits. Place the hinge pin in the hinge to secure the new hinge. Screw the hinge into place. Use a drill or screwdriver and the package screws to secure the two sides of the hinge to the jamb and the door. Using a nail insert it beneath the hinge pins and push them halfway up.

Open and close the door to verify that the oil gets all the way to the bottom part of the hinge pin. Make the cut as deep as the hinge is thick. Or simpler how to hang a door. Install the new hinge. Use the chisel to carve out the wood inside the outlines of the hinge. Use a pencil to mark around the hinge so you know where you need to bore your hole. Then with the door in place mark the location of the hinge on the door.

Use the chisel to scrape away excess wood shavings.
